The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will launch an all-India RBI Inter-School Quiz—its new initiative at promoting financial literacy at school level from 10 September 2012. The quiz will be conducted among students in classes 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th from schools across the country and across all Boards of education.

The quiz is being conducted to increase awareness about the history and role of RBI, about banking and finance, economics, current affairs, personalities and events that have contributed to the growth and progress of India over the years, according to a statement issued by the banking regulator.

The syllabus for the quiz will include Indian banking history, banking, accounting, finance, trade and commerce, India's economy, economics, common business terms, general knowledge and current affairs. The quiz will be conducted by Barry O'Brien and his frequent team mate and co-host Ryan Shaw who will also help the RBI research the quiz.

Following an elimination round in more than 30 cities, the zonal finals would be conducted in mid-November 2012 and the national final would held at Mumbai in the third week of December 2012. The winners will be given attractive prizes at the hands of the Reserve Bank Governor. All participant students will be given participation certificates.
